What is Playback?
The Playback process is simple. Participants tell real life stories with the support of a conductor or emcee. A storyteller chooses other participants to play the characters in his/her story. The conductor then says Watch! Music begins and the Playback is underway. Through spontaneous dialogue, movement, and music, we bring the essential elements of each story alive again.
Playback is a powerful form of educational theatre and an effective tool for personal growth and social change. This introductory weekend is gently layered story upon story.
I think learning through stories is the easiest way for the majority of us learn. Playback sidesteps all sorts of intellectualization. Seeing our stories played out is healing. We are no longer alone in our story. Chris Bowers, Introductory Playback Participant
Robert knows what he is doing. This makes the weekend very safe. Great teacher. Great balance. I loved the acting. Thanks for this gift.
